With as little as one session your IBS could be gone forever!
Hypnosis has been used for years to help people lose weight, quit smoking and build confidence.
But new research has revealed that it can also help reduce the painful symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
According to research, one in five of us will be affected by the regular bouts of constipation, diarrhoea, cramping, bloating and flatulence associated with IBS.
'Gut Directed' hypnosis created by gastroenterology expert, Peter Whorwell, from the University of Manchester, claims to be able to improve a patients overall feeling of well-being by 80% and reduce pain.
Patients are hypnotised into a deep state of relaxation before being asked to place their hands on their stomach. Next they are asked to think of feelings of warmth, comfort and safety and focus on soothing breathing techniques.
Once the participants are fully awake, they can use this same stomach holding technique to create similar feelings of comfort when they feel strong symptoms of IBS. Strange, but very effective.
Before you start hailing this as a miracle cure for annoying cramps, it's important to know that hypnosis doesn't work for everyone.
According to a study by scientists at Stanford University, people who are quick decision makers with precise habits and strong attention to detail are less susceptible to hypnosis than their more worrisome peers.
They've estimated that a quarter of people can't be hypnotized because their brains just won't let them!
Even if you're not convinced hypnosis would work on you, we reckon it's worth trying if it can banish those bloating blues...
