Using Hypnosis we can go back and deal with these unwanted issues and bring about a sense of peace and evolution into the future.

So if you are dealing with an unwanted behavior/feeling A hypnosis appointment may be the very thing you need to move onwards and upwards.

What myth's and misconceptions do you have about Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is shrouded in mystery. The word hypnosis conjures up images of men with hard, unyielding, wide-eyed gazes and spirals of mysticism. According to Certified Hypnotist William Wood, the truth lies far from these stereotypes.
Hypnosis Specialist William Wood explains, “January 4th, 2013, is World Hypnotism Day. The goal of this day is to eliminate the myths and misconceptions about hypnosis and to teach people the truth about hypnotism.”
Wood continues, “Hypnosis for personal self improvement is very different than hypnosis for entertainment--what you see on TV or at a high school party. I often tell people that there is a higher calling in life than to get people to bark like a dog. My mission is to help the average person improve his or her life for the better.”
Wood states, “Hypnosis for self improvement helps people break bad habits, quit smoking, lose weight and much more. I literally see incredible transformations in my office every day I go to work. I feel honored to help people change their lives for the better.”
William Wood of Northern Utah Hypnosis Center regularly works with smoking cessation, weight loss, resolving fears, breaking habits, relieving stress, and improving sleep. William Wood also helps people with the medical and dental applications of hypnosis, after receiving a referral from a licensed medical doctor or dentist.
Mike Riter of Brigham City discusses his experience with William Wood and hypnosis for smoking cessation.
“After repeated attempts to quit smoking, I had resigned myself to the fact that quitting was impossible, at least for me. I had quit so many times I had become an ‘expert’ at it. I was motivated to quit, but lacked the tools to do so. This is where hypnosis came in.
“Will gave me those tools, showed me how to use them, and a support system to make it happen. My biggest question was ‘How does hypnosis work?’ as I had no experience with it, and wasn’t even sure if it would work, but figured I had nothing to lose, and everything to gain.
“You must be committed to the idea of being smoke free. That’s all it took to make it work. Now I can breathe, which allows me to exercise, which keeps my weight at a healthy level, which lowers my blood pressure and so on.

“Being smoke free is the first step to breaking the addiction chain, and achieving other health goals. And deciding to look into hypnotherapy was the first step to getting started. Will Wood was committed to my success. Checking in with me, and vice versa until I was smoke free."
Hypnosis has been used for more than two hundred years and has been studied for a number of medical and dental applications, under the supervision of licensed medical doctors and dentists. Stanford University has performed a number of studies on hypnosis and pain control. In Europe, hypnosis has been studied to help women overcome fertility challenges, as an adjunct to medical fertility treatments. Hypnosis has also been used to help people find relief from irritable bowel syndrome symptoms and migraine headaches.
In 1992, a meta-analysis published in the Journal of Applied Psychology reviewing more than 600 studies with 72,000 individuals who participated in tobacco cessation trials. According to the 1992 report, hypnosis was, on average, three times as effective as the patch and fifteen times as effective as simply deciding to quit cold turkey.
Wood explains, "Your subconscious mind is a powerful ally in making personal change. So often, I see people try to force a change with sheer willpower. Take New Year’s resolutions as an example. The first three or four days of the New Year’s resolutions go really well as you try to overpower your old patterns and then the gravity of habit takes over and you are right back where you started, or worse.”
Wood explains, “Hypnotism effectively harnesses the raw power of your subconscious to create desired change so that your New Year’s Resolutions are achieved more easily and quickly than before. While hypnosis doesn’t replace your decision to change or the need to have a game plan to achieve your goal, hypnosis does grease the wheels of change, helping you achieve your goals faster and easier. For many people, hypnosis is the easy way to keep that New Year’s resolution.”

The rebirth Of Hypnosis

The rebirth of hypnosis

I’ve got an article in today’s Observer about the re-emergence of hypnosis into the scientific mainstream despite the fact that the technique is still associated with stereotypes.
The piece has been oddly titled ‘hypnosis is no laughing matter’, which kind of misses the point, because no-one laughs at it, but many scientists do find it uncomfortable because of its long-running associations with stage shows, high-street hypnotists and the like.
The sub-heading also suggests that the article is about the revival of hypnosis as a ‘clinical tool’ when the article only discusses the use of hypnosis in the lab.
However, get past the headings and the piece discusses the genuinely interesting cognitive science of hypnosis and suggestibility.
The recent research is interesting not so much because we are learning about hypnosis itself, but because it is helping us understand some quite striking things about the fundamentals of the mind.
Amir Raz and colleagues at McGill University in Montreal reported that it was possible to “switch off” automatic word reading and abolish the Stroop effect – a psychological phenomenon that demonstrates a conflict between meanings, such as where we are much slower to identify the ink colour of a word when the word itself describes a different hue. Furthermore, when this experiment was run in a brain scanner, participants showed much lower activation in both the anterior cingulate cortex, an area known to be particularly involved in resolving conflict between competing demands, and the visual cortex, which is crucial for recognising words. Although this may seem like a technicality, to the scientific world it was a strikingly persuasive demonstration that hypnosis could apparently disassemble an automatic and well-established psychological effect in a manner consistent with the brain processes that support it.
One of the other exciting areas is the use of hypnosis to temporarily induce altered states of consciousness that can then be studied in the lab. More of that in the article.

A testimonial for Hypnoteyes.

"After meeting Sarah, who is very passionate about her work, I was very intrigued and wanted to try out hypnosis. I'm fairly skeptical, but Sarah explained in detail what I could expect during and after the session, and she was dead-on. The results were amazing! I haven't experienced such peace of mind in a very long time, and several weeks later I can honestly say the results last. If you are at all curious or interested to see whether hypnosis can help you I urge you to contact Sarah and find out more for yourself. You'll be glad you did!"

How qualified is a qualified Hypnotherapist ?

Luckily for America Hypnosis is a profession which is now regulated.

I am a member of the A.C.H.E (which stands for the American Council of Hypnotic Examiners)

The minimum requirement for a Clinical Hypnotherapist is 300 hours of training from a licensed school.

This way the client knows that the therapist they have gone to, is as qualified as they can be for the A.C.H.E requirement in the state of Florida.

I have over 500 hours of training, as the school I attended strives to provide the highest level of training possible.

The Florida Institute Of Hypnosis now based in Tampa is a licensed school and in fact the president is on the board of the A.C.H.E

For current Hypnotherapists they have to renew their license every two years at which time they will need to provide the A.C.H.E with proof that they have attended a further 30 hours of training in that two year period.

So as you can see the American Council Of Hypnotic Examiners takes it's responsibility very seriously.

So when you are seeking the best qualified, have a look at the therapists credentials, if they are a current member of the A.C.H.E you can rest assured that they have had the minimum of 300 hours training and they should always have their certificate on show for you to see.

Got IBS ? Get Hypnosis!

Suffering with painful bloating and cramps ?

With as little as one session your IBS could be gone forever!

Stomach pain IBS

Hypnosis has been used for years to help people lose weight, quit smoking and build confidence.

But new research has revealed that it can also help reduce the painful symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

According to research, one in five of us will be affected by the regular bouts of constipation, diarrhoea, cramping, bloating and flatulence associated with IBS.

'Gut Directed' hypnosis created by gastroenterology expert, Peter Whorwell, from the University of Manchester, claims to be able to improve a patients overall feeling of well-being by 80% and reduce pain.

Patients are hypnotised into a deep state of relaxation before being asked to place their hands on their stomach. Next they are asked to think of feelings of warmth, comfort and safety and focus on soothing breathing techniques.

Once the participants are fully awake, they can use this same stomach holding technique to create similar feelings of comfort when they feel strong symptoms of IBS. Strange, but very effective.

Before you start hailing this as a miracle cure for annoying cramps, it's important to know that hypnosis doesn't work for everyone.

Hypnosis

According to a study by scientists at Stanford University, people who are quick decision makers with precise habits and strong attention to detail are less susceptible to hypnosis than their more worrisome peers.

They've estimated that a quarter of people can't be hypnotized because their brains just won't let them!

Even if you're not convinced hypnosis would work on you, we reckon it's worth trying if it can banish those bloating blues...

I suffered from IBS and it was cured in one session, so please do not suffer anymore, call me today 407-494-3578

Here is another Case Study Of Mine.

A client came in suffering from a severe fear of Death.

It caused her to feel unsafe is all areas of her life and as such had affected her entire life, she did not see the point in making a career because all the effort was going to be wasted there was no point in having a family either.

So we went through her childhood and found nothing there, if you are suffering from an issue something has to have happened for it to be there in the first place, behavior is something that is learned.

So during her session I took her back to the original event that caused her to feel this way, she reported being in a dark place but feeling safe at that time.

I realized she was actually inside her mother's womb, I asked her to home in on what she could hear, she reported back her mother was in the hospital and she was being told the baby wasn't going to make it and she should prepare for the inevitable to happen.

Her mother spent the rest of the pregnancy on bed rest and finally had my client around her due date.

In this instance the mother had worried so much about loosing the baby she had mentally prepared for the child's passing.

This is where the fear of death came from, with some processing of the situation and forgiveness my client was healed and was able to move on.

I know this can sounds a little weird, I mean why on earth would we want to go back inside our mother?

The learnings are very clear, we do not arrive on the planet like a sheet of plain paper, waiting to be written on, sometimes we are already born with issues.

The good news is that you no longer have to live with these feelings and emotions, Hypnosis can be amazing at really getting to the root cause of how and why you feel a certain way.

Do you have a good location for a seminar?

I am looking to get in front of Parents to be and those that are actually already expecting their child.

I would like to be able to give them FREE parenting advice so they are ready for their child.

Any birthing centers would be perfect for me to be able to get them the information they really need.

Often when we are pregnant we do not really consider how we shall parent, at that point the pregnancy is the main focus, but parents need to be prepared for the baby and already have a plan for actual parenting, we all have varied ideas on how this should be done.

I have eye opening tips that can mean the world of difference to your child.

So if you know of a good location for me please email me at info@hypnoteyes.me.

Hypno Tattoo

I wanted to share with you something fun that I did a while ago.

I like tattoo's and although they are not for everyone, mine are in places where wearing normal clothing no one can see them, except for the one on my foot.

They are pretty and very non offensive.

When I was going through my training we were taught how to help clients with pain management.

So one day after some thought I decided I was going to cover a tattoo with something different, but knowing this would be a long time in the chair, and it would be more painful than usual.

On the drive there I decided I wasn't going to feel any pain, and started to work on my arm so I would feel nothing.

I went from this..

To this

In four hours pain free!

For me it was a huge achievement, to be able to make this happen on the way there, whilst driving really showed me how powerful the brain really is, and what we really can do, if we just put our mind to it.

So if you have been wanting a tattoo but been scared of the needles, this may be another option you hadn't considered!

Why am I a Hypnotherpist?

I am asked many times what made you choose Hypnotherapy as a career ?

The easy answer is because I want to help people, the second is because it is my passion, I never have those old "oh no it's Monday" feelings, I love what I do and I never know what is coming through my door.

My first introduction to Hypnosis was actually a teacher at school, he was a religious teacher and rather than bore us to death with religion, he found other ways to teach, he was an amazing teacher, and it is him I thank today for me being where I am.

My second experience was I needed to help a friend, and wasn't sure what I was looking for, back in the days of yellow pages, I flicked through and a whole page advert came to light.

I called and made the appointment for him to go along, I asked if he wanted me to leave, but he said I could stay, just not to concentrate too much on what he was saying.

He had told me about some case studies which I shall never forget.

We left after the session and I wasn't too sure if it was going to work, but it really did and I couldn't believe the transformation in just one session.

So I decided to get involved and sought out various schools and information and knew I wanted to have this as a career.

And here I am 11 years later, loving what I do.

My company name is Hypnoteyes - which is pronounced Hypnotize

So now you know!

If you have any questions about Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy please get in touch, I will be happy to answer your questions.

Are you frustrated by people in the world ?

Well today I want to try and help people to be OK about the world we now live in, and those we share it with.

The other day I was having a bad day and running late, I found myself "stuck" behind a slow driver.

I was so frustrated and couldn't do anything but hope they turned the other way at the light.

And then on the way back someone was riding my bumper and I was angry, they were swerving all over the road behind me, I was doing the speed limit for the road and wasn't going to risk a ticket.

It occurred to me that maybe he like me was having a bad day and was desperately trying to get to an appointment because he was running late.

Who knows? His mom may have been in an accident and he was rushing to the hospital? His girlfriend may have gone into labor and he was trying to make it before the baby arrived.

I know that everyday we are ALL doing the best we can with the resources we have, and if all we can do is our best then that's good enough!

A few years ago whilst I was in Gainsville at my Hypnotherapy School my bank got held up by gunmen, I was so angry, how dare they do that!

He calmly said Sarah you are not in a position to judge

Oh yes I can I replied I would never do that,  and why not he asked me?

Because it's wrong I said, no matter how bad things got I could never do that. And why would you never do that I was asked?

Because I was raised with good morals and principles!

So he told me if he's doing the best he can given the resources he has, where do you think he's come fro, how bad is his life right now?

What we know is he's in a desperate situation and at this point has no choice, so Sarah, I know you are angry at him but you need to extend love to him.

What ? Send love to him?  why on earth should I do that?

Because he needs it more than you do!

Sobering thought isn't it.

So next time you look at the world and people in it and get angry, just think for a moment, look at the bigger picture.

I now choose to live a more peaceful life and yes sometimes I still have to check myself but when I remember that we are ALL doing the BEST we can with what we have I can choose not to react in an angry way.

Why should I allow someone to affect they way I feel all day ?

So sending this to everyone in the hope of bringing some peace and of course extending love.

My website is www.hypnoteyes.me if you want to live with peace please get on touch so I can help you get to your goals today!

Preparing for the birth of your baby

So your expecting a baby! congratulations but are you really ready ?

As an adult we decide to have a family but children do not arrive with a user manual, the only thing we can do is our best, and the way we do that is by the way we were parented ourselves.

We make a choice, well my childhood was unpleasant and I don't want my child to go through that, so I choose to do the opposite, or I turned out ok so I will replicate what I had.

There is no right or wrong answer here but we still need to think ahead carefully.

By making the choice we can relax a little, but there will still be issues you had that you may pass onto your child so consider this.

If you were left alone a lot when you were a child, (felt abandoned) you may decide your childhood is not good enough to base your child's upbringing on, but what you decide now may make the situation worse in the long term.

You may decide to always be there for your child (nothing wrong with that whatsoever) but if you are worrying about these issues, concerned if you have what it takes to be a great parent, whilst pregnant it's possible to transfer these insecurities onto your unborn child.

You may send a message to the child that it is never ok to be alone and it may end up leaving them with a feeling of being insecure and unsafe, which is ok for a few years but can start to cause issues when they begin to go into Kindergarten, they may suffer separation anxiety.

It's possible to end up doing as much harm but in the other direction.

So if you are considering trying for a baby, think about the plan for parenting before you get pregnant, make sure you and your partner have an agreement on a parenting plan and really do your child the best service ever, by being completely ready, emotionally for their arrival.

If you feel you have insecurity or issues it would be the best and most caring thing to do for the mother of your baby to get these dealt with as soon as possible.

Nurse Preaches The Power Of Suggestion

Lynette Bear, RN, DNP, CRNA, a nurse anesthetist at the Laser Spine Institute in Wayne, Pa., understands many patients don’t enjoy how they feel when waking up after surgery.

So, Bear supports harnessing the power of positive suggestion to minimize patients’ postoperative discomfort and the amount of time patients need in postoperative recovery.

"I’ve used this for years on many of my patients," said Bear, a member of the National Guild of Hypnotists and an adjunct faculty member for the Rush University College of Nursing in Chicago in the DNP program, working with students over the Internet. "And so many times, I’d get asked by other nurses, 'Why do your patients always wake up better?’"

Hypnosis is not commonly incorporated into anesthesia for surgery in American hospitals or outpatient surgical centers, said Kenneth Y. Pauker, MD, immediate past president of the California Society of Anesthesiologists, attending anesthesiologist at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills, Calif., and a member of the communications committee of the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

While formal hypnosis is "used rarely," Pauker said, "some hypnoidal techniques, meaning the choice of language and tone in communicating with patients, including positive suggestions and/or guided imagery during anesthetic induction, may be employed perhaps a bit more often.

"I cannot imagine that the ASA would object to the use of hypnosis to reduce patient discomfort, so long as it did not interfere with or obstruct the conduct of an anesthetic," Pauker said.

Bear said a research study she conducted in 2011 in support of her as-yet-unpublished doctoral dissertation at Rush University demonstrated hypnosis led to "significant improvement" in patient comfort levels after surgeries at Laser Spine Institute.

In her formal change study, patients listened to an identical loop audio recording with soothing, positive language during the surgical procedure while under deep sedation. The recording included techniques such as progressive relaxation, guided imagery and instructions for communication if the patient felt any discomfort during the surgery.

After surgery, according to Bear’s research, just two of the 130 patients who agreed to listen to the loop audio recording suffered postoperative nausea and vomiting, while four of the 123 who did not listen to the audio recording suffered from PONV. And all patients spent almost 12% less time in recovery than patients undergoing similar surgeries who did not listen to the recording, Bear said.

She said less time in recovery would reduce the burden on nurses and cut down on overtime.

Further, she said, four patients in the study who agreed to hypnosis were having surgeries similar to ones they had before. Those patients required half of the anesthetic drugs used in their previous surgeries.

Bear said she believes anesthesia and hypnosis represent a "perfect marriage," and she hopes more of the healthcare community opens to the use of hypnosis to increase patient comfort. At the Laser Spine Institute, a recording Bear made called "Freedom From Stress" is offered to patients in the preop and the recovery rooms. The institute also gives patients the option of listening to the tape Bear used in her study during surgery.

But even if others might not be as fully onboard as Bear, both Pauker — who co-authored an article about the use of hypnoidal techniques in the April 2012 ASA Newsletter — and Bear said they believe patients could benefit simply from the incorporation of certain techniques incorporating positive suggestion.

For instance, rather than asking patients about their pain levels, nurses can alter their word choices to focus on patient comfort.

"I’m hoping that we can begin teaching nurses that even the way we talk to people is important," Bear said. "This isn’t a one-sided thing. People are really into what we can do to help them feel better."

A trance a day keeps the doctor away?

Can a trance a day help keep the doctor away?

Hypnosis, often associated with bearded dudes named Zolton the Great, has been gaining adherents in the health care sector as a way to help control asthma, diabetes and high blood pressure. It's also been used to help mitigate the pain of chemotherapy, arthritis and even childbirth. "Hypnobirthing," in which mothers cultivate a state of calm prior to delivery, has been embraced by Hollywood celebrities such as Jessica Alba.
Patients who learn self-hypnosis can gain a sense of control over their pain, researchers say.
"Pain is multilayered," says Dr. Deborah Grice Conway, a psychotherapist at the Center for Integrative Medicine at UPMC Shadyside. "There's a physical reason for pain. There's also a psychological overlay. People's interpretation of pain often makes it worse for them."
When we daydream or become engrossed in a movie, our brains can cycle from their beta, or waking state, to an alpha state. Hypnosis can induce a similar effect. By making our brains more open to suggestion, it can help us re-calibrate our mind-body connection. Patients under hypnosis often are asked to imagine a pleasant scene such as a beach or a forest.
Conway has used hypnotherapy to help treat patients with migraines, anxiety disorders and chronic pain.
"We do a lot of work with metaphors," Conway says. "For example, you might use a metaphor suggesting that the patient imagine the pain as the red light on the body and gradually change the color to a cooling, soothing blue."
Like most states, Pennsylvania does not license or register hypnotherapists. Just about anyone can claim to be a "certified hypnotherapist" by training with various organizations, schools or instructors around the country.
Conway suggests those considering hypnosis consult a licensed medical or mental health professional.
"We really like to distinguish between people who are hypnotists and people who are health care professionals who use hypnosis as well as other tools," Conway says. "You should not treat anything with hypnosis that you would not be qualified to treat otherwise."
Conway is a member of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis in Illinois. Its membership is composed mainly of psychologists, psychiatrists, clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists, mental health counselors, medical doctors, masters-level nurses, dentists and chiropractors.
The American Psychiatric Association defines hypnosis as "a state of aroused, attentive, focal concentration with a relative reduction in peripheral awareness that can be utilized to facilitate a variety of psycho therapeutic interventions."
Experts are quick to point out that nobody can be hypnotized against their will. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis, they say.
"Medical hypnosis does not reduce control," says Paul Friday, chief of clinical psychology at UPMC Shadyside. "It increases a patient's control."
Friday, a psychotherapist, has used hypnosis for 35 years to help patients manage pain from chemotherapy, fibromyalgia and other chronic conditions.
"What the human brain can do is limitless," he says. "Is it going to stop cancer? No. Is it going to make you live forever? No. It can make the ‘now' a lot easier."
Catherine Rosensteel of Hempfield used medical hypnosis to help lower her blood pressure prior to hip replacement surgery 11 years ago. She learned it from her optometrist, who used hypnosis to help clients to adjust to their new contact lenses. She still uses it for her arthritis pain.
"If I could not do self-hypnosis, I don't know if I could leave my house," says Rosensteel, an artist who teaches pastels, oils and drawing at the Greensburg Art Center. "The (arthritis) pain is so extreme under the circumstances."
Earlier this year, two studies conducted in Sweden at the University of Gothenburg showed that hypnosis soothed the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome in 40 percent of 346 patients. The benefits were long-term.
Hypnosis also has been shown to reduce hot flashes in post menopausal women, says Deb Barton, associate professor, oncology and nurse administrator, division of nursing research at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
"Basically, there have been very well-controlled studies to look at the placebo effect," she says. "Those studies have borne out the fact that there is something real about hypnosis.
"This is not anything like entertainment hypnosis," Barton says. "You don't get into this state where you're doing things that you wouldn't normally do. That's hocus-pocus. Medical hypnosis is a way to become so relaxed and so open that suggestions can be given to your subconscious."
Brain scans have shown that the brain undergoes changes during hypnosis, Barton says.
"The brain is the central headquarters for a lot of the chemicals that really govern the physiological processes in our bodies," she says. "There have been several studies that show that, through providing various messages to the mind, the chemicals change."
Greensburg native John Weir, a member of the National Guild of Hypnotists and the Hypnotism Society of Pennsylvania, says he hypnotized himself to undergo a root canal without anesthetic.
"I would ... bring forth numbness in my hand," he says. "Once I was able to do that, we were transferring it into my jaw and my mouth. Even though I was aware of what the dentists were doing, it was no problem whatsoever."

Meditation is self Hypnosis and if we all could allow ten minutes twice a day to relax and unwind we would all be in better shape emotionally and physically

Meditation allows the body mind and spirit to align and re connect after the days work.
